The chief of Sefwi Obeng – Mim in the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area of Sefwi Juaboso District of the Western North Region, Oheneba Nana Kwame Obeng II has expressed choleric to “Galamseyers”(illegal Miners).
Nana Obeng in an interview with Radio 1 news has vowed to protect the environment with his citizens and will not accept any money from any person or group who have intend to do illegal mining (Galamsey) in his area.
He continue that, they are more than Operation Vanguard and will make sure there will be no illegal mining (Galamsey) in the traditional area.
Illegal Mining(Galamsey) despite it treacherous consequence, keep gaining grounds at mining communities in the country and has become a major headache to the nation.
Galamsey Operation go about their activities without any environment considerations and has called on all citizens to come together and fight against illegal mining (Galamsey) in the country.
finally said, since the operation vanguard alone can not stop the operations of the illegal mining, He therefore urged citizens in mining communities to be bold to report illegal miners (Galamseyers).
