A member of the Bono East Regional New Patriotic party, NPP legal and campaign Teams, Dr. Lawyer Anane Gyinde has issued a Stern warning to Mr. Nana Boateng, popularly known as Nana B who has declared his bid to contest the kintampo North constituency’s Parliamentary seat as a independent candidate in the upcoming December, 2020 elections to, with immediate effect, desist from using H.E Nana Akuffo Addo’s name and posters as well as symbols belonging to the NPP to campaign for votes, else, he will be made to face the law.
Nana be is alledged to have printed his campaign posters/Stickers with photos of himself and that of Ghana’s president, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and pasted them on a pick-up vehicle which he’s alleged to be using to campaign for votes.
Their are allegations by some NPP members that Nana B defected from the New Patriotic party to contest the kintampo North Parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.
The party’s executives, in a press conference earlier issued a similar warning to Nana B to stop campaigning with the party’s symbols and pictures of president Nana Akuffo who who doubles as their presidential candidate since that is against the NPP’s constitution.
The kintampo North constituency chairman of the NPP, Mr. Abubakar Sadik, a.k.a Chairman Abuu who led the press briefing, stated that Nana B was unknown to the party and even if he was known to them, by virtue of his declaration to go independent, he’s automatically disqualified from being their member and , therefore, cannot campaign for votes in the name of the party and its flag bearer.
Nana B , in an interview with GBC-Radio kintampo, has since denied ever being a member of the NPP. He has also denied knowledge of any pick-up vehicle branded with his pictures, Nana Addo’s pictures and NPP symbols saying that his campaign is based on what he has done and what he can do for the people of Kintampo.
But speaking at the launch of the Kintampo North constituency’s NPP campaign team, lawyer Gyinde who is also a lecturer at the GIMPA Law school, said the party’s colours and Nana Akuffo Addo who is theirs presidential candidate are their products and any non party member who attempts using them for his personal benefit will be sued.
He said the party’s legal team will be meeting on Saturday, September 12, 2020 to decide on the actions to be taken against individuals who use the party’s symbols and it’s candidate for their individual benefits.
” If you are not a party member, you can’t use the the party’s symbols, paraphernalias and candidate to sell yourself. They are our products and any nonparty member who attempts using them for his individual gains will not be spared. We are going to summon you. We are going to sue you jointly and severally, he stressed.
Speaking on the same issue, the Bono East Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Thomas Adu Appiah, popularly known as chairman Tooma, cautioned party executives and supporters to desist from preaching skirt and blouse saying that anyone who is found engaging in that should count him/herself out of the party.
