Covid-19: Ghana Records 4 New Deaths, 523 New Cases As Active Cases Near 8,000

Though Ghana as a nation is doing all it could to fight against the deadly novel coronavirus pandemic, all the efforts and protocols to mitigate the effects seem not to work.

After 24 hours, Ghana has recorded 523 new cases which shoots the total case counts to 78,271 while 69775 have fully recovered and discharged. Four (4) beautiful souls were lost within the 24 hours which also brings the death toll to 565 while active cases soar to 7,931 with only 69 cases to hit 8,000.

Out of the over 31 million population, 849,891 tests have been made and 121 patients from the 7931 active cases are in critical or severe conditions.

While South Africa is the most hit in Africa with 1,496,439 case counts, Ghana is 10th most hit in Africa but 2nd most hit in West Africa after Nigeria which is also hit with 149,369 total case counts.

The regional breakdown of the cumulative case counts in Ghana is as shown below;

Greater Accra Region – 45,544

Ashanti Region – 13,885

Western Region – 4,575

Eastern Region – 3,365

Central Region – 2,709

Volta Region – 1,415

Bono East Region – 972

Northern Region – 867

Bono Region – 836

Upper East Region – 814

Western North Region – 773

Ahafo Region – 635

Upper West Region – 307

Oti Region – 258

Savannah Region – 69

North East Region – 61
