In the 2020 farmers day celebration, the president of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made a pronouncement of his second administration preparing to implement a policy that would provide a free scholarship for cocoa farmers wards at tertiary institutions.
However, the chief of Awuronsua in the Atiwa East District in the eastern region, Barima Ampem Darko I, who enacted the policy has pleaded on the president H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to honour the former deputy minister for education in charge of tertiary, Prof Kwesi Yankah an appointment.
According to the policy maker and experienced chief who has been on stool for 28 years, i.e. one of the longest chiefs in the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional council, he spent years to put down the policy but ability to handover the policy to authorities was another cycle of problem to contend.
But upon meeting Prof. Kwesi Yankah, he made everything easy for him. Sent the policy to the president, arranged for meetings to defend the policy and now it has been accepted and waiting for it’s implementation.

Moreover, Barima Ampem Darko I expressed worry about Prof Kwesi Yankah not being honoured in NPP’s second term because he appears to be the only one who knows more about the policy and if he doesn’t get the opportunity in government again, his fear is that the policy won’t be implemented.
Prof Kwesi Yankah who wanted to snatch Agona East seat for NPP lost in the 2020 election and has subsequently lost his position as the deputy minister for education.
Does Prof Kwesi Yankah deserve a position in the Akufo-Addo’s second term?
