Commuters en route from Accra to Kumasi and dromnKumasi to Accra as well as from Kumasi to Koforidua and vice versa were stack in a heavy vehicular traffic.
The said traffic occurred around 3:30pm where five minutes drive from the custom barrier at Nsutam to Osino spent about 3 hours before.
As stranded passengers could not understand why the heavy traffic, it was however revealed that barrels arranged on the shoulders of Osino road has been the cause.
As part of reducing illegal parking and loading, to help increase revenue generation, the fanteakwa south district has arranged so many barrels filled with concrete on the shoulders of Osino and Bunso Junction. Since the barrels are on the shoulders of both sides of the road, it has narrowed the surface area.
Moreover, as the highway is the most busy road in the country especially whennthwre are funerals, a lot of vehicles were in town and that made it difficult for cars move.
Commuters spent over 3 hours before they could pass through the used to be 5 minutes drive.
Many citizens however, have expressed their concerns over the barrels used as no parking and stopping ans have been calling Dor their removal.
