Disappointed Barreto Fumes At ‘Nonsense Goal’ Conceded By Kotoko

Kotoko head coach Mariano Barreto is seething from a goal he describes as ‘nonsense’ conceded by the Kotoko defence in their 1-1 draw with WAFA in the Ghana Premier League on Saturday.

The 64-year-old former Ghana coach says his side shouldn’t have conceded such a goal.

The Porcupine Warriors took an early led through an Abdul Ismail Ganiyu penalty but defender Habib Mohammed fluffed his defensive lines as he allowed Justus Torsutsey to outsmart him to head the ball past Felix Annan to level things up.

Torsutsey’s goal is the 4th goal Kotoko have conceded in their last 4 games in the top-flight as giants struggle to keep clean sheets.

An unhappy Barreto has described the goal as a nonsense goal which shouldn’t have been conceded.

“We start leading the game and we played well. In the last minute of the first half we conceded a nonsense goal. We cannot suffer a goal like that because after the cross the player was in front of the defender but we have rehearsed these things a lot of times,” the Portuguese gaffer said during the post match interview.

Kotoko’s failure to win means they remain second on the league log with 46 points and behind bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak who leapfrogged them on Friday after beating Eleven Wonders in Techiman.
