The Monitoring Officer of the forestry Commission check point at Bunso Junction, Bismork Owusu Asante has denied claims that the check point at Bunso junction has collapsed one Asumadu’s job.
According to him one Asumadu is spreading falsehoods and he is by this medium entreating all to consider the allegations as palpable lies and attempts to drag the forestry commission and his own personality into disrepute.
Speaking on Radio 1 100.7fm, the forestry commissioner, Bismark Owusu Asante explained further that the man’s own activities has collapsed his own job and that he should stop spreading lies in the media.
“This man has his building at the back of our wooden structure which we use as check point and that area is government land so it’s not his property. For the past two and half years we have been paying him GHS200 as electricity bill because he gave us light. But last year October, he approached us that all of us are making it so he has increased the light bill to GHS600 and this time around he will charge them for the land. But when they disagreed, he disconnected us from electricity. We then explained to a nearby landlord and he connected us back and he is angry now because we have light from another house” – Bismark Owusu Asante said.

He alleged that the man was once caught bathing at the cemetery and was mercilessly beaten where he was asked to choose between his Hearse business and pure water business. So he believes he chose the pure water business to the hearse business.
“We did not collapse his job. When we came here his Hearse business was already down. Let me tell you what Bunso people told me. It is rumored everywhere that he was caught bathing at the cemetery and he was severely beaten. Doing Hearse business and bathing at the cemetery raised a lot of concern and that made him stop the Hearse business and now has resorted to doing pure water business” – Bismark Owusu Asante added.
According to the commissioner, he works under the Timber Industry Development Division (TIDD) of the Forest Services Division of the Forestry Commission of Ghana. They were situated at the fumigation site at Birimso and had to bring the checkpoint at Bunso junction to monitor illegal logging and illegal transportation of goods and services and that has benefitted the forestry commission so much.
However, Mr Asumadu told Radio 1 News team that he has been spoken to and some elders have come to address the issue. He refused to speaker on any of the allegations as well.
