Hearts of Oak midfielder Emmanuel Nettey has successfully completed a move to Iraq division one side Duhok SC.
Nettey is reported to have joined the Asian club as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Hearts on December 31, 2021.
The 30-year-old joined the Phobians from Inter Allies in 2019 and has been one of the club’s key players in the last three years.
He played an instrumental role as Samuel Boadu’s side ended their 12-year trophy drought by winning the league and FA Cup double last season.
Nettey was also a mainstay in the Hearts side that participated in the early stages of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup this term.
The midfielder will hope to use his experience to help Duhok SC in their bid to qualify to the Iraqi Premier League, having finished seventh in the division one league last season.
Meanwhile, Nettey is the second player to depart Hearts in the last few days after Raddy Ovouka’s imminent transfer.
The FAQs is, if a player of Emmanuel Nettey caliber could quit almighty Hearts of Oak to play in the Iraq league, what it means is that Ghana’s football has no future!
Thus, if Hearts of Oak cannot afford to pay Emmanuel Nettey a higher amount than the Iraq football team, it raises concern about the state of Ghana Football.
