Even as fufu still remains the favourite of the masses, traders of pestle and mortar in the fanteakwa south district in the eastern region of Ghana lament bitterly over poor sales.

According to them, the forestry commission has restricted their entries into the forests and also felling of trees to produce the materials (i.e. pestle and mortar) which make their access to the basic difficult.

However, they added that people also go in for fufu pounding machines and which they find as stress free, fast and convenient in working with but advised that they use the traditional way because the pestle and mortar add additional medicine to the food.

They therefore used the opportunity to appeal to the government to as a matter of concern, come to their aid to implement all the necessary conditions to help boost their business.
