Contempt Of Court Case Against Ablakwa Adjourned

The contempt case against the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has been adjourned.

The Accra High Court directed lawyers for the General Secretary of the National Cathedral’s Board of Trustees, Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, also known as Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, to properly serve the law marker as constitutionally provided through the Speaker of Parliament.

Lawyers for the plaintiff filed a contempt application against the MP after he was caught on video kicking an interim injunction obtained in connection with a defamation suit filed against him.

Speaking to journalists after the adjournment, one of the lawyers for Mr Ablakwa, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpo said, “The matter has been adjourned sine die for the applicants to put their House in order. The court has directed them to do the appropriate thing by having him served as constitutionally provided through the Speaker of Parliament.

“When that is done then the processes that we have elected to be filed as a matter of consequences, we can rely on it to file further processes as a result of proper service. Until that is done there is no matter.”

On his part, the Deputy Minority Leader, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah said Mr. Ablakwa has dedicated his life to fighting for the interest of the country.

He added that the MP has the support of all meaningful Ghanaians who want the right thing to be done in the country.

“So today you should have seen Mr. Adu Gyamfi in court but instead, you know who was in court? The man who was fighting for the right thing for Ghana, Okudzeto Ablakwa.

“The people of Ghana are committed to supporting all the right things he is fighting for. The Minority in Parliament stands strongly behind him. Today, we went to court and it was obvious that the people who took us to court are running away from their own application.

Presence at the court were scores of constituents of the MP singing and chanting in support of the lawmaker.

They were of the view that no amount of intimidation will silence their MP from fighting for the truth.

In a Facebook post on Monday 20, 2023, Mr. Ablakwa said “Even if Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng/Kwabena Adu Gyamfi succeeds in having me imprisoned tomorrow as he so desperately desires, I shall always be proud of the fact that those who declared support for Truth, Justice & Parliamentary Oversight far outnumber the forces of oppression.”

Background

Mr Ablakwa has petitioned CHRAJ to investigate Rev Victor Kusi-Boateng, over conflict of interest, including possession of multiple identities and other alleged criminal dealings.

The petition also alleged that there was a transfer of GH¢2.6million cash from the National Cathedral Secretariat to JNS Talent Centre Limited owned by Rev. Kusi-Boateng under his secondary identity, Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.

Petition

According to Mr Ablakwa the petition sought to invoke the mandate of CHRAJ under Article 218 of the 1992 Constitution to investigate the “odious conflict of interest” in regard to
Rev.Victor Kusi-Boateng’s position on the national cathedral board as he “literally paid his own company a staggering GH¢2.6million for no work done”.

Rev. Kusi-Boateng, who is also the founder of Power Chapel Worldwide, according to Mr Ablakwa, was the same person as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, who received the GH¢2.6 million from the national cathedral board.

“For the avoidance of doubt, there is no distinct Kwabena Adu Gyamfi. Kwabena Adu Gyamfi is a criminal creation of Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng. The two are, therefore, one and the same,” Mr Ablakwa alleged in a statement on his Facebook wall that preceded the petition.

Mr Ablakwa said documents revealed that two other persons, Sheila Eshun and Kwabena Adu Gyamfi were also directors of JNS Talent Centre Limited.

“From unassailable and irreproachable documents in my possession, Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng, aka Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, uses multiple passports and multiple identification cards with different names and different dates of birth as his special modus operandi.

“When JNS Talent Centre Limited was being incorporated, he submitted a passport with the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi. The passport’s number is G0886001. At the time, he claimed his date of birth was December 30 1969,” he said.

Registration

Another matter of interest for Mr Ablakwa is that “when the National Cathedral of Ghana was being incorporated on July 19, 2019; Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng used his driving licence for the registration.”

According to the MP, deeper investigations expose a host of companies in which Rev. Kusi-Boateng operates as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.

The companies include Y-CV Construction Ltd.; Qharis Consortium Ltd; Kharis Football Academy FC Ltd.; El Dunamis Media Limited; Onpoint 1 Laundry Ltd.; Vibrant Generation Chapel Worldwide LBG; Dunamis Chapel Worldwide LBG; El-Dunamis Enterprise and Duna Media Foundation.
Some of these entities, he alleged, were registered to engage in small-scale mining.

As a result, Mr Ablakwa further demanded the resignation of the preacher from the Board as a show of commitment by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
