Someone gave me ‘broken heart’- Efya reveals why she took a break from music

Songstress Efya has revealed she actually took a break from music to nurse her emotional injury probably after her boyfriend broke her heart into shreds.

The Ghanaian singer spoke about her extended absence from the entertainment world on 3FM’s Urban Blend with AJ Sarpong.

She said it was because she was ‘served breakfast’ which she obviously never envisaged. The singer said during the interview session that she had stopped singing during that time due to a broken heart. She said, “My heart was broken,” shocking the host, AJ.

“I was heartbroken that I didn’t want to sing. You know I’m a baby girl so the way I feel matters to me a lot and it wasn’t something I wanted to deal with at that time,” she revealed

Efya also disclosed that she has been working continuously for 15 years in the music industry without taking a break. Throughout this extended period, she actively appeared on numerous shows, continually promoting her work.

“Also, I’ve been working for 15 years without break and in between these times I’ve been performing on all the shows and still representing. And I think I gave everyone their feature,” she concluded.

Efya, is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and actress from Kumasi. She is the daughter of Nana Adwoa Awindor, a filmmaker and celebrity host of the late television show Greetings From Abroad.

When Efya took part in the inaugural Stars of the Future talent competition, she experienced her first taste of stardom. Beginning in 2011, she won the Ghana Music Awards four times in a row for Best Female Vocal Performance. In addition, her performance at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards received praise.
