A 45-year-old man wanted for butchering his ex-girlfriend because she refused to accept him back allegedly committed suicide by drinking suspected poison.
The incident occurred in the Eastern region at Aburi-Ketase.
Bernard Essel is an Englishman. Nana Yeboah, a 45-year-old baker, is accused of poisoning himself.
Bernard Nana Yeboah broke into the house of his ex-girlfriend, Patricia Amerdi, 40, and attacked and inflicted multiple machete wounds on her as she was leaving the house early in the morning to Accra to buy fruits to trade with.
Patricia was rushed to Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital’s emergency room for treatment.
She has since been released.
After committing the act, the suspect went into hiding and was thus declared wanted by the local police.
On Monday, August 14, 2023, he was discovered dead in his room, almost decomposing.
According to Nana Asante Aboagye, alias Nana Sadat, Ankobeahene of Atwiesin, a bottle suspected of containing poison was discovered next to the deceased.
The body was recovered by police and taken to the morgue.
The substance has also been taken to a laboratory for analysis.
