Police respond to Minority’s decision to demonstrate against BoG Governor, deputies

The Accra Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service has responded to the National Democratic Congress’ decision to protest against the Bank of Ghana (BoG) Governor and his deputies on September 5.

The Minority leader, Cassiel Ato Forson on Monday, August 21 notified the police command of the caucus’ intention to organise a demonstration against Dr Ernest Addison and his two deputies.

He noted that the protest will be done in collaboration with Civil Society Organisations, Progressive Forces and other well-meaning Ghanaians.

The caucus says the action is based on the central bank’s illegal printing of over GH¢80 billion to the Akufo-Addo government.

On the back of this, the Command in a press release issued on Tuesday, August 22 said “The Accra Regional Police Command acknowledges receipt of your letter No OML/PH/23/0001 dated 21/08/2023 in respect of the above subject matter.”

“The Command wishes to invite you for a meeting to deliberate on modalities pertaining to your intended protest” on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at the Accra Regional Police Headquarters at 10 am.
