The murder of her father, the late Brigadier General Simeon Apata (rtd), in her presence, according to Nigerian musician Teniola Apata, nicknamed Teni Makaniki, had a profound impact on her.
Teni revealed during an interview with media personality Taymesan that she was just two years old when armed men broke into their home in Lagos and killed her father in front of the family. Teni remarked, “Growing up with my father passing at such a young age, the trauma of losing my father at such a young age affected me,” in the interview, which the host Taymesan posted on Instagram on Sunday.

On January 8, 1995, a man named Brig. Gen. Simeon Apata (rtd.) was killed.
