God will judge Akufo-Addo for being the worst president ever – Protester booms

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has come under fire from Naseebah, a female protester from the recently concluded #OccupyJulorbiHouse action organized by Democracy Hub and several concerned residents. She called him the “worst president ever.”

The demonstrator emphasized her dissatisfaction with the situation in Ghana in an emotional interview with JoyNews, noting in particular the suffering of the youth and the healthcare system.

As she described the desperate circumstances many Ghanaians are experiencing, the protester’s rage was evident. She gave the example of a teacher who had spent more than 30 years working for the public good but lost his son because he was unable to pay the GH400 weekly cost of dialysis.

She further charged that while the country was still dealing with urgent problems, money was being misappropriated and spent on unnecessary expenses. She questioned the government’s goals, particularly in light of the high taxes paid by the populace and the rising expense of life.

“I’m really upset, and I’m much angrier this morning. People are dying every day, and the Korle Bu dialysis machine broke down. Do you know how many people perished as a result? A 24-year-old son passed away this morning; his father was a teacher who spent more than thirty years in the military and couldn’t afford the $400 a week for dialysis. Why do you say that?

You bring flowers to commemorate your daughter’s birthday and a cake to celebrate E-Levy, yet you know how much taxes and living expenses cost us daily.

She proclaimed that God would judge the government and Akufo-Addo, saying, “God will judge the government, God will judge Akufo-Addo, it won’t hurt him, it will be excruciating for someone who built his career on protest, he built his career on protest, God will judge him, God will judge him for making people suffer, look at the Ghanaian youth, look at every one of them, and he is using the police as a tool and arrested them on.

On the final day of the three-day #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstrations, protestors made a nighttime effort to break through a police cordon and march to the White House.

This is in spite of the wrongful detentions and sleazy police behavior that marred Day 1 when police detained 49 demonstrators for hours on suspicion of unlawful assembly.

They were all later granted bail releases.

Day 2 and Day 3 went by without a serious incident due to police barricading Jubilee House, the primary road leading to the president, even before the demonstrators started marching there.

The 37-Accra Road was blocked on Day 2 on one side only, but on Day 3 both sides were blocked, severely restricting vehicular movement for the majority of the day.
