UN-Akufo-Addo tweet causes Black Sherif to issue a warning

Omanhene Kwabena Asante, a well-known media figure in Ghana, has urged Black Sherif to refrain from interfering with government affairs if he lacks information.

During the recently concluded United Nations General Debate in New York, President Akufo-Addo made a ‘harmless’ statement, to which the artist responded by condemning him.

President Akufo-Addo requested during the meeting that $88 billion be given back to the African continent as reparations to African countries for the slave trade.

The president also stated during his presentation that illegal cash flows cost African nations more than $88 billion annually.

“You’re keeping our $88 billion and still calling us corrupt. Yes, those monies too must be returned to the continent. It is difficult to understand why the recipient countries are comfortable retaining such funds while labeling those countries, from which the money is taken as corrupt,” Akufo-Addo told the Assembly.

In response to this, Black Sherif asserted that the president requested an absurdly large sum of money from developed nations during the United Nations summit in New York in an effort to join the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest.

Blacko claimed that there is no proof for all the money the government has requested and received from numerous institutions in an effort to criticize the government for its lack of accountability after receiving such big sums.

“Left the UN Conference in New York City right after the president of Ghana’s presentation. I’ve never heard a figure like what he asked for from the UN. So, if they carry all this money give dem, where them dey take pass? Hand on my heart I dey tell you there’s no evidence for all the monies these people dey borrow in our name. And if the people, whose struggles you document to go ask for money, want accountability, you send Koti make they dey beat them? Lord knows this battle is Ours. Wonna go hear am,” he wrote on Twitter.

While some members of the public, particularly the demonstrators, praised his post, Omanhene Kwabena strongly disagrees with him on all counts.

He is only now hopping on the bandwagon. Does he understand the purpose of that money? Oh no! He ought not to casually say stuff like this. He claimed that there is no proof of the purpose for which they are borrowing the funds, which is not even accurate. There is no proof, right? What about the hospital projects that NDC and NPP managed to finish if there is no proof? If the rate of progress dissatisfies you, it’s not the same as stating that the loans we take haven’t paid off.

“Does he believe that MPs are stupid? He might not like how quickly things are moving along, but he shouldn’t lie. It’s not true. Do you believe they would have continued to provide us loans if we hadn’t used them? Let’s treat ourselves fairly. Let’s adhere to the rule. Take your time to learn the system if you don’t comprehend it. It’s not a scene for music. He is lying about the facts,” he yelled during a debate on Adom FM.

The ‘Yaya’ crooner was then given a severe warning by the man.

“The president was speaking to several people, and it is obvious that he didn’t grasp the situation. He needs to exercise extreme caution. Be extremely cautious. This is a serious matter,” he raged.
