Hearts of Oak shake up: Board of directors dissolved ahead of AGM

Hearts of Oak has announced the dissolution of its board of directors in a statement released on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

The move includes the departure of prominent figures such as Frank Nelson, Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe, Alhaji Akanbi Brimah, and Vincent Odotei Sowah.

This decision comes from Board Chairman Togbe Afede XI and precedes the club’s upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) next month.

Recently, a group of supporters protested against the board, demanding changes within the club’s leadership.

However, Togbe Afede XI responded negatively to these demands, questioning what more the fans could want from the board.

“What do they want? What do they want?” he asked rhetorically before continuing, “What do they want that we haven’t done? We’ve done everything. After all this, the only thing that Hearts doesn’t have is a stadium.”

“We are streets ahead of all our counterparts. I would even say that we will come out as one of the very best in the whole of the subregion,” he added.

Despite these statements, the club has struggled domestically since their successful season in 2021 when they won both the league and cup double.

Togbe became the majority shareholder in 2011 and has invested significantly in improving the club’s infrastructure, with the Pobiman Sports Complex in the final stages same as the new head office in Adabraka.

Notably, the club appointed Delali Anku-Adiamah as their new Managing Director earlier this February.
