Power outages: GRIDCo attributes Winneba, Takoradi ‘dumsor’ to faulty equipment

The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has attributed the Sunday, March 3 power outages experienced in the western parts of Accra, Winneba, and Takoradi to faulty equipment at the Mallam substation.

GRIDCo, in a statement, noted that its engineers have quickly isolated the faulted equipment for further investigation. It maintained that the power supply was restored two hours after the disruption.

The bulk electricity transmission company, however, apologised to its customers within the affected area.

“Restoration of supply to affected customers started immediately. As at 22:30h, power supply to most of the affected customers had been restored. For areas without power supply, engineers are working tirelessly to restore power once the faulted equipment is fixed.
