Kasoa ‘Missing Penis’: Kudos to IGP for Boldly Arresting the Orchestrators – Allotey Jacobs

Bernard Allotey Jacobs has commended IGP George Akuffo Dampare and his officers for arresting some persons for misleading the public about the disappearance of their genitals.

Kasoa over the days became the cynosure of all eyes with news spreading across the length and breadth of the nation of people’s penis disappearing, resulting in mob justice on suspects.

These reports were widely circulated on social media and got people to believe the stories but according to a statement by the Ghana Police Service, these claims are false.

“The Ghana Police Service notes with concern this increasing trend of persons making false claims of the disappearance of their genitals and blaming innocent bystanders that sometimes lead to mob attacks. We wish to caution the public against such criminal conduct that is likely to harm innocent people as well as disturb the public peace.”

The statement also indicated that nine persons in connection with the genital disappearance story have been arrested.

Touching on the issue during “Kokrokoo” panel discussion show on Peace FM, Allotey Jacobs expressed disgust at the missing penis claims, pointing out people frame these stories to cause pandemonium.

He alluded to past similar incidents where people accused others of making their “penis shrink” which characterized the erstwhile Acheampong regime.

Allotey praised the Police administration for its swift intervention to defuse the tension in public, particularly at Kasoa in the Central Region.

“Let me commend the IGP and the Ghana Police Service. They’ve done well; for the first time they have arrested people” for spreading such falsehood, “the Ghana Police Service and then the top hierarchy, especially the IGP, have been bold enough and I think this won’t happen again,” he remarked.
