She noted that sustained fiscal discipline, targeted reforms, and strengthened institutional performance are already delivering measurable results for the country. According to her, recent gains—such as easing inflation and improved currency stability—demonstrate the impact of prudent economic management.

The Vice President emphasised that the future of public financial management lies in responsible digital transformation. She explained that leveraging innovative technologies will enhance efficiency, reduce financial leakages, and support real-time reporting across government systems.

She also underscored the need to strengthen payroll management systems, pointing out the importance of eliminating irregularities, including so-called “ghost names,” to protect public funds. Transparent and verifiable processes, she said, remain essential in safeguarding national resources.
Reaffirming government’s commitment to value for money, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stressed that every cedi spent must translate into tangible benefits for citizens.

She commended the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department for its pivotal role in implementing government policies and urged staff to remain committed to professionalism, transparency, and accountability in public financial management.
