Government Distributes Laptops to Regional Ministers Ahead of One Million Coders Programme Rollout

Accra, April 29, 2026 — The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has distributed laptops to all Regional Ministers and Members of Parliament as part of preparations for the nationwide rollout of the One Million Coders Programme (OMCP).


The initiative is intended to facilitate the establishment and operation of constituency-level training centres, ensuring a smooth and coordinated implementation of the programme across the country.


According to the Ministry, the distribution exercise represents a significant milestone in the lead-up to Phase Two of the flagship digital skills initiative. The move is expected to deepen local ownership while enhancing the effectiveness of training delivery at the constituency level.

The One Million Coders Programme, which is scheduled to commence soon in selected constituencies, aims to equip one million Ghanaian youth with critical digital and coding skills to boost employability and innovation.
With all Regional Ministers now equipped with the necessary tools, authorities say the Phase Two training centres are on track to become operational, paving the way for a full-scale nationwide rollout of the programme.
