Accra, April 24, 2026 — The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with Chinese technology firms following a courtesy call by the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Cong Song, at the Ministry in Accra.
The meeting underscored the growing momentum in Ghana–China relations, particularly in advancing digital transformation and innovation-driven development.
He highlighted the government’s deliberate efforts to collaborate with leading Chinese companies, including Huawei, stressing that such partnerships are vital to accelerating Ghana’s digital agenda. He noted that an enabling environment has been created to attract Chinese investment, especially in local manufacturing.
As part of this vision, the Minister proposed the establishment of mobile phone assembly and manufacturing plants in Ghana, positioning the country as a production and export hub for the West African sub-region.

Discussions also focused on key areas of cooperation, including the expansion of the Rural Telephony Project to improve connectivity in underserved communities, the rollout of 5G infrastructure, and the upgrade of the National Data Center to meet increasing data demands.
He further expressed Ghana’s readiness to actively participate in Global South–South partnerships in digital infrastructure, leveraging shared experiences to promote inclusive and sustainable technological growth. He also welcomed China’s hosting of the upcoming World Radiocommunication Conference, describing it as a critical platform for global collaboration in spectrum management and digital innovation.

Ambassador Cong Song, on his part, commended the Minister’s leadership in advancing Ghana’s digital transformation agenda and strengthening bilateral ties. He reiterated China’s willingness to deepen cooperation with Ghana across key sectors, particularly in emerging technologies, and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to sustaining the long-standing relationship for mutual benefit.
