The Abuakwa South Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by Nana Kwaku Amoako, has successfully organised a Corporate Football Night at the Asiakwa Astroturf, marking the official launch of a new corporate football league initiative.
The event, which also served as the maiden activity at the newly developed facility, was facilitated through the efforts and advocacy of the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Hon. Dr. Kingsley Agyemang. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to promote community engagement, physical fitness, and healthy lifestyles within the municipality.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Kwabena Addo, host of the Radio1 Morning Show, Hon. Dr. Agyemang described the programme as the first edition of a structured corporate football league envisioned for the constituency. He explained that the project seeks to strengthen relationships among institutions while encouraging regular physical activity among residents, particularly within Asiakwa.

According to him, the league will feature participation from a wide range of institutions, including security agencies, health facilities, educational institutions, financial organisations, media houses, and political groups. These teams will compete in an organised format designed to foster unity, teamwork, and collaboration across sectors.
Hon. Dr. Agyemang further stressed the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle, noting that modern work routines often keep people sedentary, which can contribute to health complications. He urged all participating institutions to embrace the initiative and actively support its successful implementation.
He also revealed that a similar corporate sports initiative has already been introduced in Kyebi, with plans underway to expand the programme across the entire constituency.
He encouraged institutions to take advantage of the platform to engage in regular exercise, highlighting its potential to reduce lifestyle-related diseases and promote overall well-being.

The event was well attended by key stakeholders, including the Eastern Regional Police South Commander, divisional police commanders, the General Manager of Radio1, Mr. Owuraku Asamoah, and the Queen Mother of Akyem Dwenase, HRH Nana Hemaa Apeaa Sarpomaa Kumakuma, as well as members of the media.
The successful launch is expected to pave the way for subsequent editions of the corporate league, fostering unity and promoting healthy living among institutions in Abuakwa South.
