Ghana’s fundraising campaign in support of the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup has received a significant boost, following fresh financial commitments from key state institutions and corporate organisations ahead of the tournament in June.

Deputy Finance Minister, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, disclosed that the Bank of Ghana had contributed GH¢5 million towards the campaign, while the Ghana Revenue Authority donated US$300,000 into the committee’s dollar account.

Timeline and Innovation Company Ltd also increased its contribution by an additional GH¢1 million, bringing its total support to GH¢2 million. Meanwhile, SIC Insurance Company Limited joined the fundraising effort with a donation of GH¢1 million.

Speaking on the progress of the initiative, Mr Ampem indicated that the committee had approximately two weeks left to complete the fundraising exercise before the funds are officially handed over to the Sports Ministry for use in preparations and participation at the global tournament.

“We have about two weeks to finish the fundraising activities,” he stated.
He further revealed that the committee had opened cedi, dollar, euro and pound sterling accounts at the central bank to make it easier for individuals and organisations to contribute in multiple currencies.

Managing Director of SIC Insurance, Solomon Twum Barimah, said the company’s support underscored its commitment to national development and Ghana football.

“It is only proper and good that we come in to support them so that they can go and make Ghana proud,” he said.
Mr Barimah also disclosed that SIC Insurance was preparing additional life insurance packages for members of the Black Stars team ahead of the tournament.
