Accra, May 28, 2026 — Farm Radio International Ghana has joined the global observance of World Nutrition Day 2026 with a renewed call for inclusive nutrition education, stronger food systems, and improved access to reliable nutrition information across communities.

In a statement marking the occasion, the organization highlighted the importance of nutrition, food security, and community engagement in building healthier and more resilient societies, particularly in Africa where many households continue to grapple with malnutrition, limited dietary diversity, rising food costs, and the effects of climate change.

The observance coincides with Rome Nutrition Week 2026, being held under the theme, “Shaping the Future of Joint Nutrition Action in a Changing World.” Farm Radio Ghana said the global event presents an opportunity to strengthen conversations around nutrition, sustainable agriculture, health, and livelihoods.

According to the organization, good nutrition remains essential for healthy living, strong communities, and sustainable development, yet access to practical and locally relevant nutrition information remains a challenge for many people.

Farm Radio Ghana noted that through its radio programmes, storytelling initiatives, digital engagement, and partnerships with farmers, experts, and community stakeholders, it continues to provide platforms that empower communities with knowledge to improve food choices, farming practices, and overall well-being.

“At Farm Radio Ghana, we believe information is a powerful tool for change. Conversations around nutrition must be accessible, locally relevant, and inclusive if we are to build food systems that truly serve communities,” said Rosemond Ohene, Country Representative of Farm Radio International Ghana.

The organization further emphasized that addressing nutrition challenges requires collaboration across multiple sectors, including agriculture, health, media, education, and policy, to ensure that women, youth, and rural populations have the support and knowledge needed to thrive.

As the world commemorates World Nutrition Day 2026, Farm Radio Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to amplifying community voices, promoting inclusive dialogue, and supporting healthier communities and resilient food systems across Africa.
