The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has forecast rain and thunderstorms in several parts of the country today, Monday, June 15, with a weather system developing over Togo expected to influence conditions along Ghana’s eastern corridor.
According to the agency, patches of mist and fog are likely to form early in the morning over some coastal, forest, and mountainous areas, potentially reducing visibility for commuters and road users.
GMet indicated that a rainstorm currently forming over Togo is moving toward Ghana and could bring rainfall to communities in the eastern parts of the country later in the day.
Along the coast, areas such as Aflao, Anloga, Accra, Takoradi, and Axim are expected to experience light morning showers, while thunderstorms accompanied by rain may affect Kete Krachi, Yendi, and Tamale.

The agency noted that many parts of the country will experience sunny intervals during the day. However, from late afternoon into the evening, rain and thunderstorms are expected to develop across several inland areas, particularly within the southern and middle belt regions.
Cities including Accra, Kasoa, Winneba, Cape Coast, Kumasi, Ho, Koforidua, and Obuasi are among locations likely to experience afternoon rainfall and thunderstorms.
As the evening progresses, the rainfall activity is expected to extend into parts of the western, transition, and northern belts, affecting areas such as Tarkwa, Sunyani, Techiman, Damongo, and Jirapa.
Temperatures across the country are forecast to range between 22°C and 34°C, with the northern regions expected to record the highest temperatures.
GMet has advised the public to remain weather-aware, carry umbrellas where necessary, and exercise caution when travelling, especially in areas where rainfall, thunderstorms, and reduced visibility are anticipated.
Meanwhile, the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has urged motorists, passengers, and pedestrians to be extra careful on the roads following recent heavy rains that have caused flooding in some parts of the country. The Authority cautioned that wet road conditions increase the risk of accidents and called on drivers to adhere strictly to road safety regulations.
