The GUNMA leadership expressed concern over the phased recruitment approach adopted by the Ministry and urged authorities to avoid similar arrangements in future recruitment exercises.

The Association stressed the importance of providing adequate recruitment slots to ensure that all qualified nurses and midwives within a graduating year group are accommodated.

The Director further assured the Association that the entire 16,000 recruitment clearance secured by the Ministry would be utilized before the end of the year. He also disclosed that an additional recruitment exercise is anticipated before year-end, subject to salary budget readiness and approval from the Ministry of Finance.

According to him, the Ministry remains committed to ensuring that health professionals are not deployed without the necessary salary provisions in place.
GUNMA reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the interests of unemployed nurses and midwives across the country and pledged to continue engaging relevant stakeholders to promote fair, transparent, and timely recruitment processes.

The Association expressed optimism that the assurances provided by the Ministry would translate into concrete action and bring relief to the many qualified nurses and midwives awaiting employment opportunities.
