Hohoe Court Jails Man Four Years for Stealing Church Musical Instruments

A 27-year-old man, Mohammed Rafiu, has been sentenced to prison by the Hohoe Circuit Court after pleading guilty to charges of unlawful entry and stealing church musical equipment in Hohoe in the Volta Region.
According to the Volta North Regional Police Command, the incident occurred on June 5, 2026, when the accused was spotted near Faith International Ministry Church carrying a sack containing various items while hurriedly attempting to board a vehicle.
His actions aroused suspicion among some residents, who intercepted him and inspected the contents of the sack. The items recovered included an amplifier, an equalizer, a mixer, and a crossover machine, all identified as property belonging to the church.

The suspect was subsequently arrested and handed over to the Hohoe Police District Command. During investigations, Mohammed Rafiu admitted to the offences.
He was arraigned before the Hohoe Circuit Court on Monday, June 8, 2026, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful entry and stealing.
The court convicted him on both charges and sentenced him to three years’ imprisonment for unlawful entry and four years for stealing. The sentences are to run concurrently, meaning he will serve a total of four years in prison.
The Volta North Regional Police Command has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the police to aid in crime prevention and public safety.
The conviction was announced in a statement signed by Inspector Felix Kwao, Public Relations Officer of the Volta North Regional Police Command.
