The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) has hosted a two-day Peer-to-Peer Learning Exchange aimed at enhancing digital learning capacities and strengthening collaboration among peace and security training institutions in West Africa.

The programme brought together representatives from the National Defence College (NDC) of Nigeria and Benin’s Centre for Humanitarian Demining and Mine Action Training (CPADD) to share knowledge, experiences and best practices in digital transformation and institutional capacity development.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to equip regional training institutions with the tools and expertise needed to respond effectively to increasingly complex peace and security challenges. Participants engaged in intensive peer-learning sessions across various departments of KAIPTC, with particular focus on the Centre’s eLearning Unit, which has gained recognition for its innovative approach to digital education and training delivery.

The exchange also included discussions with the Commandant of KAIPTC, providing an opportunity for participants to explore strategies for strengthening institutional resilience, expanding access to quality training programmes and improving knowledge-sharing mechanisms across the region.

As a key outcome of the engagement, the participating institutions committed to deepening collaboration through joint monitoring and evaluation (M&E) training programmes to be organized by KAIPTC and the ECOWAS Commission. The institutions also expressed interest in leveraging KAIPTC’s expertise to support internal change management processes, strategic planning initiatives and the advancement of their respective digital transformation agendas.

The learning exchange is expected to contribute significantly to the development of a more resilient, responsive and collaborative regional peace and security architecture, while promoting stronger institutional partnerships across West Africa.

The programme was supported by the ECOWAS Peace, Security and Governance (EPSG) Project in collaboration with the ECOWAS Commission. The project is co-funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the European Union, and Denmark, and is jointly implemented by GIZ, Expertise France and FIIAPP.
