The persistent challenge of “No-Bed Syndrome” in hospitals across Ghana has become a major concern for healthcare providers and patients alike. In response to this growing problem, the MTN Ghana Foundation has launched a significant intervention under its 2026 Yellow Care Programme aimed at improving healthcare delivery through the provision and refurbishment of hospital beds.

On June 10, 2026, the Foundation embarked on a nationwide initiative to visit eight hospitals across the country to help address the shortage of beds in health facilities. Among the beneficiary institutions is the Koforidua Government Hospital in the Eastern Region.

Speaking during the programme, Mr. Ransford Gyan explained that MTN Ghana’s management decided to undertake the project as part of the company’s commitment to supporting quality healthcare and promoting good health and personal hygiene among Ghanaians.

According to him, MTN’s mission goes beyond providing telecommunications and connectivity services. He emphasized that the company is equally dedicated to reaching out to communities and contributing meaningfully to improving the lives and well-being of people across the country.

“This initiative is designed to repair and restore old hospital beds into functional and usable condition, helping health facilities accommodate more patients and provide better healthcare services,” Mr. Gyan stated.

The project is expected to significantly improve patient care by increasing bed availability, reducing congestion in hospitals, and ensuring that patients receive treatment in a more comfortable and dignified environment.

The MTN Yellow Care Programme continues to demonstrate the company’s commitment to social responsibility, with this latest intervention offering much-needed support to Ghana’s healthcare sector in its efforts to overcome the challenges associated with the No-Bed Syndrome.
