National Ambulance Service Provides Medical Support for UN High-Level Consultative Conference in Accra

The National Ambulance Service (NAS) has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering world-class emergency medical services by providing comprehensive medical cover, medical escort, and standby support during the High-Level Consultative Conference on the Next Steps to the Landmark United Nations Resolution on the Trafficking of Enslaved Africans.
The three-day international conference, held in Accra from June 17 to 19, 2026, brought together Heads of State, senior government officials, diplomats, development partners, and other distinguished delegates from around the world to discuss the implementation of the landmark United Nations Resolution addressing the trafficking of enslaved Africans and its lasting impact on humanity.
As part of its operational responsibilities, the National Ambulance Service deployed highly trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), ambulances, and emergency response teams to ensure the safety and well-being of participants throughout the event.

The Service provided dedicated medical coverage at key conference venues, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, and Christianborg Castle, where high-level meetings and official engagements were held. Ambulances and emergency personnel remained on standby throughout the programme to provide immediate medical assistance should the need arise.
Beyond venue-based coverage, NAS also delivered medical escort and standby services for visiting Heads of State and other dignitaries during their stay in Ghana. Ambulances and EMTs accompanied official convoys and were strategically stationed at designated accommodation facilities to ensure rapid emergency medical response at all times.
The successful execution of these assignments underscores the National Ambulance Service’s expanding role in supporting major national and international events through the provision of professional emergency medical care, medical escort services, and emergency preparedness.
According to the Service, the operation reflects its unwavering commitment to delivering timely, efficient, and life-saving emergency medical services while contributing to national development and reinforcing Ghana’s reputation as a preferred destination for international conferences, diplomatic engagements, and other high-profile events.
