The Presidency has issued an urgent flood safety advisory, urging residents in flood-prone communities to remain cautious and follow all emergency instructions as persistent heavy rains continue to cause flooding in parts of the country.
In a statement released on Monday, June 29, 2026, the Presidency advised people who are already in safe locations to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel while the downpour persists.
Residents whose homes have been affected by rising floodwaters were urged to move immediately to higher ground and call the national emergency hotline, 112, for assistance.
Motorists have also been cautioned against driving through flooded roads, with the Mallam Kasoa Road, Alajo, and Graphic Road specifically identified as areas to avoid due to dangerous flooding. Drivers who come across flooded routes were encouraged to turn back instead of attempting to cross and to use safer, elevated roads.

The advisory further called on the public to unplug electrical appliances and keep away from electricity poles, transformers, and fallen power lines to reduce the risk of electrocution.
The Presidency reiterated that protecting lives remains the government’s highest priority and urged the public to stay informed through official updates and comply with directives from emergency response agencies.
“Your safety is paramount,” the statement stressed, encouraging residents to remain vigilant and put their well-being first until weather conditions improve.
