President Mahama Orders Immediate Release of GHS 300 Million for Flood Relief and Mitigation

Tuesday, June 30, 2026 –
President has directed the Minister for Finance to immediately release GHS 300 million from the Contingency Fund to support urgent flood relief and mitigation efforts following the devastating floods that have affected parts of Accra and other communities in southern Ghana.
According to the directive, GHS 150 million will be allocated to provide emergency assistance to flood victims and affected communities, while the remaining GHS 150 million will fund critical flood mitigation projects aimed at reducing the risk of future flooding.

The President has also ordered the immediate deployment of personnel from the and the to support the (NADMO) and other security agencies in ongoing rescue and relief operations across the affected areas.
Earlier in the day, President Mahama conducted an aerial assessment of the flood-hit communities to evaluate the extent of the damage. Following the inspection, he announced a series of emergency interventions aimed at protecting lives, supporting affected residents, and strengthening measures to prevent future flooding.
