A dramatic scene unfolded at the Ofaakor Circuit Court in Kasoa on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, when two suspects standing trial in an alleged human trafficking case collapsed during court proceedings, briefly interrupting the hearing.

The first accused person reportedly lost consciousness while prosecutors were presenting their case. Shortly afterward, a second suspect also collapsed after the court announced its decision to remand all six accused persons into custody. The accused persons, Janet Larbie, Mary Dotse, Yvonne Twumasi, Sikena Umar, Grace Afriyie, and Regina Agyeiwaa, are facing allegations linked to an alleged human trafficking operation involving five children.

According to the prosecution, three of the children are alive while two have died. The allegations remain before the court and have not yet been proven. Lawyers representing the accused appealed to the court to grant their clients bail pending trial. However, the court rejected the request and ordered that all six suspects be remanded into custody. The case has been adjourned to June 8, 2026, for further hearing.

During the proceedings, Senior Prosecutor ASP Thomas Sarfo revealed that additional witnesses had come forward to support ongoing investigations. These include a mortuary attendant at Trust Mother and Child Hospital and the husband of one of the accused persons.
