UNICEF Representative Pays Courtesy Call on Gender Minister Ahead of End of Tenure

Accra, Ghana – The UNICEF Representative in Ghana, Mr. Osama Makkawi Khogali, has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, to reflect on the longstanding collaboration between UNICEF and the Ministry in advancing child protection and social development initiatives across the country.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to review ongoing programmes and reaffirm their commitment to strengthening interventions aimed at improving the welfare of children and vulnerable populations in Ghana.

Mr. Khogali expressed gratitude to the Ministry and its development partners for the support and cooperation extended to UNICEF throughout his tenure in Ghana. He noted that he is currently concluding his assignment in the country and undertaking a series of final engagements, including appreciation visits to key stakeholders.

He emphasized the importance of sustained partnerships in driving progress in child protection and social development, highlighting that the successes achieved over the years have been the result of strong collaboration and shared commitment.

For her part, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey commended UNICEF for its unwavering support to the Ministry and its significant contribution to national efforts in child protection, social welfare, and development programming.

The Minister underscored the need to build on existing gains and further strengthen systems that promote and safeguard the well-being of children throughout the country.

Both parties reiterated their commitment to continued cooperation in addressing challenges affecting children and families while advancing inclusive and sustainable social protection policies and programmes.

The meeting concluded on a cordial note, with both the Minister and Mr. Khogali expressing appreciation for the productive partnership that has existed between the Ministry and UNICEF over the years.
