Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Alhaji Hassan Ayariga, has described Ghana’s defeat to Colombia in the ongoing FIFA World Cup as a disappointing outcome, saying the Black Stars failed to exhibit the determination, discipline, confidence, and fighting spirit that Ghanaians have come to expect from the national team.
In a statement issued after the match, Dr. Ayariga noted that Colombia was not an unbeatable side, arguing that the difference lay in execution, commitment, and the ability to capitalize on key moments.
According to him, Ghana struggled to assert itself throughout the game, created few meaningful attacking opportunities, and lacked the urgency required at the highest level of international football.

Despite expressing disappointment over the result, the APC leader urged Ghanaians not to lose faith in the Black Stars. He called on the technical team, players, and all stakeholders to undertake an honest assessment of the team’s performance, learn from the shortcomings, and rebuild with renewed purpose and determination.
“Every setback should serve as a lesson and a foundation for a stronger comeback,” he emphasized.
Dr. Ayariga also commended the Ghana Football Association and the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, for their leadership, commitment, and unwavering support for the national team throughout the World Cup campaign.
He praised their dedication to the development of Ghanaian football and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their efforts to strengthen the sport.
Addressing the players directly, Dr. Ayariga urged them to remain resilient, stressing that one disappointing result does not define their careers or their patriotism.
“The nation still believes in you. Learn from this experience, work harder, and return stronger,” he said.
He concluded by praying for the continued success of the Black Stars and God’s blessings upon the Republic of Ghana.
