The Secretary to the Eastern Regional Chief Imam and Secretary of the Regional Council of Municipal/District Chief Imams, Abdallah Abdul Daimu, has disclosed that the National Chief Imam has directed all Chief Imams across Ghana to unite under one umbrella to champion development in Zongo communities.

Speaking in an interview on Radio 100.7 FM with host Nana Kwabena Addo, Abdallah Abdul Daimu explained that the directive aims to strengthen unity among Muslim leaders and promote sustainable development in Zongo communities across the country.

According to him, in response to the directive, Chief Imams from all 33 constituencies and districts in the Eastern Region held their maiden regional conference at Bunso in the Abuakwa South Municipality on Sunday, 28 June 2026.
He said the conference resolved that Muslim leaders would work collectively to improve the living conditions of people in Zongo communities through various development initiatives.

These include the construction of schools, youth empowerment through skills training, educational support for brilliant but needy students, rehabilitation and medical support for persons battling drug abuse, and economic empowerment programmes for women.
