Kibi Goldfields and Cadbury Cocoa Partnership Commission Ultra-Modern ICT Centre for Akyem Guaso

Kibi Goldfields Site 2, in collaboration with the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership, has commissioned an ultra-modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre at Akyem Guaso to improve digital learning and promote quality education in the community.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Mines Manager of Kibi Goldfields Site 2, Samuel Agyemang, said the project forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to supporting education and community development.

 

According to him, the world has become a global village driven by technology, making it essential for schoolchildren to acquire ICT knowledge and skills to compete with their peers in the digital era.

The President of the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership expressed delight at partnering with Kibi Goldfields to deliver the project. He noted that the organisation remains committed to supporting education and inspiring children and farming communities. He added that cocoa has played a significant role in sustaining Ghana’s economy, and it is important to invest in the future of children in cocoa-growing communities through quality education.
The Chief of Akyem Guaso, Berima Kofi Amaniampong, expressed appreciation to Kibi Goldfields and the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership for the timely intervention. He described the ICT centre as a major boost to education in the community.

The chief said education remains his top priority and disclosed that since ascending the throne, he has established an educational fund to support brilliant but needy students from senior high school to tertiary institutions. He urged school heads and teachers to make good use of the ICT centre to ensure it achieves the purpose for which it was established
.
The Fanteakwa South Municipal Director of Education, Akosua Addo, also commended the community, Kibi Goldfields and the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership for investing in education. She said the facility would equip students with practical ICT skills and prepare them for the modern digital world.

She further appealed to the traditional authorities and the donors to consider providing free Wi-Fi at the centre to enable students to access the internet for research and learning.

The commissioning of the ICT centre is expected to enhance digital literacy, improve teaching and learning, and create greater opportunities for students in Akyem Guaso and surrounding communities.
