Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Replace Passports Lost or Damaged in Recent Floods

Accra, July 3, 2026 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced an expedited exercise to replace Ghanaian passports that were lost or damaged during the recent floods that affected several parts of the country.

In a press release issued on Friday, the Ministry expressed its deepest sympathies to all those impacted by the devastating floods, which resulted in the loss of lives and widespread destruction of property.

The Ministry also conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and reaffirmed its solidarity with all affected Ghanaians.

Recognising that many victims may have lost or had their passports damaged during the disaster, the Ministry has introduced a special replacement initiative to ensure affected citizens can obtain new passports without unnecessary delays.

Individuals whose passports were lost or damaged in the floods are requested to contact the Ministry between Friday, July 3 and Friday, July 17, 2026, via the dedicated hotline 055 936 8563.

Applicants will be required to provide their full name, date of birth, and gender exactly as they appeared in the lost or damaged passport, along with a valid contact number to facilitate communication.

According to the Ministry, all eligible replacement passports are expected to be processed and issued within one week.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to supporting the government’s ongoing recovery efforts and assured affected citizens of its readiness to provide the necessary assistance during this challenging period.
