MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving Ghana’s rich cultural heritage by donating GH¢20,000, GH¢1,000 worth of airtime, and a drinks hamper to support the 2026 Ohum Festival of the Akyem Tafo Traditional Area.

The donation was presented on Tuesday, July 1, by Mr. Ransford Gyan, Area Sales Manager for the Eastern Region, on behalf of the management and staff of MTN Ghana.

Addressing Osabarima Adusei Peasah IV, the Akyem Tafohene, members of the Akyem Tafo Traditional Council, and guests, Mr. Gyan said MTN was honoured to once again celebrate the revered Ohum Festival with the chiefs and people of Akyem Tafo.

According to him, MTN Ghana has built a longstanding relationship with the Akyem Tafo Traditional Area and remains proud to be associated with a festival that not only preserves culture but also creates economic opportunities for residents.

Mr. Gyan noted that festivals such as Ohum generate business for transport operators, food vendors, artisans, traders, accommodation providers, and other small businesses, contributing significantly to the local economy.

He said MTN shares the same vision of connecting people and enabling progress through digital technology, adding that the company’s purpose is to continue serving as a force for good in the communities where it operates.

The MTN official also highlighted that this year’s festival coincides with MTN Ghana’s 30th anniversary celebrations under the theme, “30 Years of Progress, Powered by You.” He said over the past three decades, the telecommunications company has evolved beyond providing connectivity to becoming a key partner in Ghana’s socio-economic development through investments in businesses, communities, and national development initiatives.

As part of activities for the festival, Mr. Gyan announced that MTN would establish customer experience centres at strategic locations across Akyem Tafo to bring its products and services closer to customers. He said dedicated teams would be on hand throughout the festival to provide customer support and improve service delivery.

He expressed appreciation to Osabarima Adusei Peasah IV, the chiefs, elders, and people of Akyem Tafo for their continued loyalty and support for the MTN brand over the years.

Mr. Gyan also commended the Festival Planning Committee for its dedication and hard work in organising another successful edition of the Ohum Festival.

He concluded by wishing the chiefs and people of Akyem Tafo long life, unity, prosperity, and a peaceful and memorable celebration, while reaffirming MTN Ghana’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the traditional area.
