2026 NSMQ, PRESEC-Legon Beat Accra Academy, St Augustine’s to Claim Ninth Title

Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC-Legon) has emerged winners of the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) after defeating Accra Academy and St Augustine’s College in a thrilling grand finale.
PRESEC finished at the top with 40 points, while Accra Academy placed second with 33 points and St Augustine’s College followed with 27 points.
The victory marks PRESEC-Legon’s ninth NSMQ championship, further extending the school’s record as the most successful institution in the history of the competition.
The 2026 contest began with 174 participating schools before PRESEC-Legon, Accra Academy and St Augustine’s College secured places in the grand finale.

Accra Academy and St Augustine’s started strongly with 11 points each in the opening round, while PRESEC recorded nine points.
PRESEC gradually took control of the contest, moving into the lead by the third round and widening the gap after scoring four points in the Problem of the Day, where their two rivals failed to score.
The Legon-based school maintained its lead through the final stages to finish on 40 points and lift the coveted trophy.
The triumph adds to PRESEC-Legon’s remarkable NSMQ legacy and further cements the school’s dominance in Ghana’s premier academic quiz competition.
