Digital Future Learning Centre Opens to Boost Child Literacy

The Digital Future Learning Centre has officially been inaugurated and opened to provide improved learning opportunities for children in Akim Abuakwa and surrounding communities.
The initiative, established by Care for Society Network International, builds on the organisation’s years of work in promoting reading, literacy and education among children.
Speaking at the inauguration, the CEO of Care for Society Network International, Madam Anita Ampofoa Amoako Gyimah, said the organisation was established in 2011 after she identified challenges affecting children in the community, particularly in reading, speaking and literacy.
She said the organisation initially started with community-based reading clubs, which helped children develop an interest in books, improve their literacy skills and build confidence.

Madam Anita said Care for Society now operates 26 community and school-based reading clubs across different regions of Ghana.
She also highlighted the organisation’s response to the disruption of education during the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that its community radio learning programme reached more than 30,000 children across 30 districts.
According to her, the radio lessons were introduced to ensure that children in communities with limited access to digital learning platforms could continue their education.
Madam Anita said the opening of the Digital Future Learning Centre marks another important step in the organisation’s efforts to create sustainable learning opportunities and improve literacy among children in the Akim Abuakwa Traditional Area.
