Mahama Dissolves Boards of BOST, GNPC, CBG and Six Other State Institutions

President John Dramani Mahama has dissolved the governing boards of nine state institutions with immediate effect, as part of ongoing efforts to restructure key public institutions.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Presidency on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, and signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications.

The institutions affected include the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG), Ghana Post Company Limited, and the National Sports Authority.

The others are Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited, Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO), Road Maintenance Trust Fund, and TDC Ghana Limited.

According to the Presidency, relevant sector Ministers have been instructed to take the necessary steps to implement the dissolution in line with the applicable laws and governing instruments of the respective institutions.

The statement further indicated that the dissolved boards would be reconstituted at a later date.

The decision comes shortly after President Mahama announced changes to his ministerial structure on August 26, 2026.

Among the changes, former Minister for Labour, Employment and Job Creation, Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, was reassigned as Minister of State for Special Initiatives, while Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum was appointed Minister for Labour, Employment and Job Creation.

Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi was also reassigned to the Presidency as Presidential Advisor on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness.

These latest board dissolutions represent a further extension of the government’s restructuring efforts, moving beyond the ministerial level to several major state-owned institutions.
