NDC Communicator Debunks Claims of Political Bias in Cocoa Fertilizer Distribution

A member of the Eastern Regional Communications Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Baba Alhassan, has dismissed allegations that the government is distributing cocoa fertilizer only to farmers affiliated with the NDC.

The allegation was initially made by Mr. Oduro Amaning, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Officer for the Fanteakwa South Constituency, who claimed that some cocoa farmers were being denied fertilizer because of their political affiliation.

However, speaking on Radio1 100.7 FM’s morning show, hosted by Nana Kwabena Addo, Mr. Baba Alhassan described the allegations as palpably false.
According to him, the government does not discriminate between NDC and NPP supporters when distributing agricultural inputs to cocoa farmers.

“We don’t have NDC cocoa or NPP cocoa. A cocoa farmer is a cocoa farmer, and government support is meant to benefit farmers without political discrimination,” he stressed.

Mr. Baba Alhassan maintained that the current government is committed to ensuring fairness in the distribution of cocoa fertilizer and other agricultural interventions across the country.
He further stated that President John Dramani Mahama is a leader for all Ghanaians and would not allow partisan politics to influence the sharing of national resources.

According to him, the President’s administration is focused on equitable development and ensuring that every Ghanaian benefits from government programmes regardless of political affiliation.

Mr. Baba Alhassan therefore urged members of the public and political actors to avoid making allegations that could create unnecessary tension and division among cocoa farmers.

The issue of fertilizer distribution and support for cocoa farmers continues to generate discussion in the Fanteakwa South District, with stakeholders calling for transparency and fairness in the distribution process.
