NDC Fanteakwa South Chairman Mark Okraku Files Nomination Forms, Appeals to Delegates for Retention

The incumbent Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Fanteakwa South Constituency, Mark Okraku, together with his team, has filed their nomination forms to contest the upcoming constituency elections.

Speaking to the media after the filing, Mr. Okraku described the process as successful and expressed confidence in the work his team has done for the party and the constituency.

According to him, members of the party can attest to the efforts made by his administration to strengthen the NDC and increase its support in the constituency.

He, however, expressed concern about some individuals whom he alleged had not actively participated in the party’s activities but were seeking various positions within the constituency.

“When it is time for campaigning, they don’t participate, but they want all the positions in the constituency,” he said.

Mr. Okraku appealed to delegates to give him and his team another opportunity to continue their work, stressing that their ultimate objective is to help the NDC win the Fanteakwa South parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2028 general elections.

He therefore recounted his long-standing involvement in the NDC, explaining that he served as an organiser in 2012, when the constituency had not yet been divided, and also became the first Youth Organiser of the constituency.
Reflecting on the party’s history in the area, Mr. Okraku said working for the NDC in the constituency had not always been easy. He recalled challenges faced by party supporters in the past and said the situation began changing through sustained grassroots mobilisation and hard work.

He said that by 2012, more people had begun openly identifying with the NDC, including wearing party-branded T-shirts, which he attributed to efforts by party executives and supporters to make the party attractive to voters.
Mr. Okraku further maintained that the NDC’s growing presence in Fanteakwa South was the result of the collective efforts of branch executives, constituency executives and party members.

He also claimed that the NPP’s major concern in the constituency was the work of his administration, saying his team had worked tirelessly to put pressure on the NPP and strengthen the NDC’s position.

The incumbent chairman concluded by appealing to all delegates to consider his record and that of his team when making their decision.

He said retaining his team would allow them to continue their work, go the extra mile and pursue the party’s objective of winning the Fanteakwa South seat while increasing both presidential and parliamentary votes for the NDC in the constituency in the 2028 elections.
