Suhum MCE to PWDs, Turn Support Items into Profitable Businesses

The Suhum Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mrs. Lydia Ohenewa Sarah, has urged 52 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to use livelihood support items received from the assembly to build sustainable businesses.
She cautioned beneficiaries against selling the items or returning to street begging, stressing that the intervention was designed to promote economic independence.
The beneficiaries received items including sewing machines, salon equipment, chest freezers, popcorn machines, fufu pounding machines, glass-door refrigerators, charcoal and HP laptops.
Some also received financial support for medical bills, school fees, hearing aids and small businesses.

Mrs. Ohenewa Sarah said the support was funded through the five percent allocation of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for PWDs.
She further disclosed that the assembly had established a corn-mill machine to strengthen its finances and improve its ability to support more PWDs in the municipality.
She encouraged the beneficiaries to take good care of the items and use them productively to improve their livelihoods.
