The Fanteakwa South Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mark Okraku Tenkorang, has appealed to party delegates to retain him as constituency chairman, arguing that the next chairman must be able to work effectively with the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the development of the constituency.
Speaking at the launch of his campaign ahead of the upcoming constituency elections, Mr. Okraku Tenkorang accused his main contender, Akuffo Dampare, of being opposed to the current DCE and campaigning against her nomination when she was nominated for the position.
According to Mr. Okraku Tenkorang, his contender allegedly campaigned against the DCE and encouraged Assembly Members not to support her nomination.
He said the DCE subsequently received 100 percent endorsement from the Assembly Members, describing the outcome as evidence that the Assembly Members supported her leadership.
Mr. Okraku Tenkorang argued that a constituency chairman who is not on good terms with the DCE could create unnecessary divisions between the party, its members and the local administration.
He therefore urged delegates to consider the ability of candidates to collaborate with stakeholders when choosing their next constituency chairman.
“I am a unifier who can work with everyone. I have a good relationship with the DCE and I can lobby for the needs of our party members,” Mr. Okraku Tenkorang said.
He further claimed that whenever resources or opportunities were available for party members through the DCE, he was contacted to help ensure that they were shared among members fairly.

“Anything that is supposed to go to party members, the DCE calls me and we share it with the members equally,” he said.
Mr. Okraku Tenkorang questioned whether an individual who, according to him, is in conflict with the DCE would be able to establish the same level of cooperation.
He consequently appealed to delegates to retain him, saying his experience and relationships with stakeholders would enable him to continue working for the development of the party and the constituency.
“I am very optimistic that I have already won because of the good stewardship over the last eight years,” he stated.
Seeking Third Term
Mr. Okraku Tenkorang is seeking a third term as the NDC Constituency Chairman for Fanteakwa South.
He previously served as an organiser before the constituency was split into two constituencies.
His main contender in the chairmanship race is Akuffo Dampare, who is also seeking to lead the NDC constituency.
The upcoming constituency elections are expected to determine who will lead the party’s constituency structure as the NDC prepares for the 2028 general elections.
