Drive to Inspire-Africa (DTI-A ), in collaboration with the Sanjeev Mansotra Foundation, has awarded 20 scholarships to support students pursuing tertiary education.

The latest awards bring the total number of beneficiaries under the programme to 70 since its inception in 2024, with students in Ghana and Uganda benefiting.

Founder of Drive to Inspire-Africa, Nana Adjoa Hackman, said the organisation was encouraged by the programme’s growth, which has been made possible through strategic partnerships and sustained support.

She said the initiative, which initially targeted young women, has now been extended to young men to widen access to tertiary education.

“We started with 17 students. I’m happy to say that today we have 70 students on our scholarship programme in Ghana and Uganda. We started awarding young women, but now we’ve opened it up to young men as well.”

The latest awards form part of a partnership with the Sanjeev Mansotra Foundation, signed earlier this year to support 20 students in accessing tertiary education.

“The first 10 scholarships were awarded earlier, with the latest ceremony marking the presentation of the remaining 10”

Nana Adjoa Hackman disclosed that the partnership also has an international component, which will allow qualified beneficiaries to apply for scholarships at Sterling University’s campus in the United Arab Emirates.

She said the organisation’s focus is not only on increasing the number of beneficiaries but also ensuring the programme is sustainable enough to support students until they complete their studies.

“We are guided by sustainability. The need to be able to do this well, to put the students on the programme and let them have the peace of mind to study and focus, knowing that we are not going to leave them until they finish their programme.”

Beyond tuition and accommodation support, the scholarship programme provides beneficiaries with laptops and mentorship opportunities.

According to her, the mentorship initiative connects students with professionals across 27 African countries and seven other countries globally, offering guidance, exposure and cross-cultural learning opportunities.

Nana Adjoa said the organisation remains committed to ensuring that beneficiaries have the financial and personal support needed to complete their education and build successful careers.

“The quality of people that we are pairing these mentees with is giving them the guidance and the cross-cultural exchanges that will give them the exposure they would otherwise not get from home or the communities where they are coming from.”

She said the organisation would continue to build partnerships and strengthen the programme to reach more students while maintaining the quality of support provided to existing beneficiaries.

For the current academic year, Drive to Inspire-Africa has awarded 30 scholarships, reflecting its commitment to expanding access to higher education and supporting young people to achieve their academic and career ambitions.

Meanwhile, Founder of the Sanjeev Mansotra Foundation, Sanjeev Mansotra also expressed hope that the scholarship beneficiaries will excel academically and build successful careers.

“We are pleased on the collaboration with DTIA as partner for the Scholarship Program. Our vision for Ghana is that every capable child, regardless of circumstance, can pursue its ambitions and return value to the community. The scholars of today will be the innovators, educators, and leaders who build the Ghana of tomorrow. When we educate a girl, we strengthen a family, a community, and a nation.”
