The Kumasi Traditional Council has teamed up with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to relocate traders occupying pavements and unauthorized places in Kumasi.
The move follows an eviction notice served by the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council calling for vacation of such places by today Monday November 62017.
The arrangement also precedes the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa Afua Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.
The movement of traders from some parts of Adum, Kejetia, Pampaso and the Kumasi Zoo area is expected to start on Monday.
A visit by OTEC NEWS‘ Isaac Nsiah Foster shows most the traders were reluctant to their various points.
They are to be assigned new spaces at the Race Course and Abinkyi markets.
But, the Kumasi Petty Traders Association has called on the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to as matter of urgency complete racecourse redevelopment project before relocate them.
Chairman of the Petty Traders Association Nana Akwasi Prempeh who spoke to otecnews said the traders are ready to leave to racecourse because of the Kumasi Traditional Council but insists KMA should complete the place before we will vacate from the pavements.
He therefore appealed to them to consider improving road network at the area.
”We have no option than to move to racecourse but we the traders cannot challenge Manhyia Traditional Council orders. Since we are ready to go, we want KMA to complete the racecourse redevelopment before we will vacate from the pavements.
