I Agree With The Supreme Court To Dismiss Suit Against Creation Of New Regions – Nkrabea Effah-Dartey

A Private Legal Practitioner an a member of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Captain Retired Nkrabea Effah-Dartey has said he truly roots for the decision taken by the supreme court of Ghana to dismiss the suit filed by some citizens who were against the initiative of the government.

He revealed this on a phone interview on the Susubiribi Morning show on Radio 1FM, 100.7MHZ on Thursday November 29 2018 when the host, Captain Kofi Wusu asked of his interpretation as a legal Practitioner.

He said the 7-0 unanimous decision taken by the supreme court is in the right direction and that it’s really in accordance with Act 5, clause 7 of the Nation’s Constitution. The reasons by which the plaintiffs took the matter to the court is to allow the region to have a referendum to decide whether to create the new region and shouldn’t be a matter of the demarcated regions.

Meanwhile, Captain Nkrabea reiterated his support for the decision taken by the Supreme Court and that the Electoral commission was right and that might be the reason why none of the Supreme Court judges voted against the EC’s decision.

He said the plaintiffs might not have understood the interpretation well before taking the matter to Court and that if he was in the Shoes of the Judges he would do same.

EC has disclosed that this referendum will come off on 27th December, 2018 in all the 6 regions.
